So all of us have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord. And the Lord who is the Spirit makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image. 2 Corinthians 3:18 NLT
Did you know that it is God’s desire that every believer to be transformed into the image of Jesus? Yes, it is true you can be like Jesus while you are on this earth! Jesus even said so himself. He told his disciples that they could do everything that he did and even more (John 14:12). Now, the question is how does that happen? Well, the answer can be found in the above mentioned scripture. God does it by his Word, and the Holy Spirit.
Our part is to read and mediate in the Word of God, and allow it to create that image in our inner man. As we read the Word of God, the seed of the Word grows within our inner being. As we mediate on the Word of God, it waters the seed causing it to grow within us (Mark 4:26-29). The apostle Paul spoke of this process several times in the New Testament (2 Corinthians 3:18, and Philippians 2:13). It is not by our effort this transformation takes place but by the Spirit and Word of God. We only have to expose ourselves to the Word.
That is why it is of paramount importance that we spend time in the Word every day. We need the Word to renew our minds and to feed our inner man. You don’t make it a practice not to eat, so why not look at the Word of God the same way? You eat because the food brings nutriments to your body and provides energy for you. Well, studying the Word of God provides strength to the inner man, and provides energy to your spirit. So I implore you to find time every day to spend some time in the Word of God. Get up 15-30 minutes earlier and start your day off with the Word of God, and see what a difference it will make in your life.
